There are special places on our planet,
places of power, healing and renewal; places where the mind-body connection
is enhanced and that enable us to get back in touch with our deepest
innermost feelings.
We need to preserve these sacred locations for ourselves, for the species
of plants and animals that coexist in harmony there, and for the future
generations of humankind that will need to be refreshed, renewed and healed
by them.

There are many wonderful places that are
easily accessible from the Central Valley.
Swimming, walking, hiking and especially meditating at a place of power
will help elevate our level of attention, empower us, cleanse our aura, and
give us an appreciation for the planet that we all live on and share.
It is important to approach these sacred places with respect and to keep
our mind in a calm and meditative state.
Mt. Pinos
Mt. Pinos is considered a
sacred mountain by the Chumash Indians. Mt. Pinos
rises over 8,000 feet above the floor of the Central
Valley. There is a beautiful hike from the parking lot to the
summit. The hike lasts about an hour (one way) and goes through a forest
with spectacular views of the Central and other valleys. Bring your own
water. Take the Frazier Park exit off of I-5.
Sequoia National
Park
There are many easy trails that
wind through the Giant
Forest where
spectacular Redwood trees live. The Giant
Forest is about 2 1/2 hours from Bakersfield. Bring
your camera! These trees can live for over 1,000 years. Take the 198 exit
east off of the 99.
The Ocean
Spending time at the beach,
especially when it is not crowded, is rejuvenating and very worthwhile for
those who live in cities. Scuba diving is an amazing experience for
those who meditate.
